This weekend the much anticipated first event in the 2019 Waterra Obstacle Course Racing series calendar took place and Gregory Packs SA was part of the action.
As prize sponsors of the challenging 15km Heroes for a day and 10km Heroes in Training division, Gregory Packs SA, the new kids on the block in South African outdoor adventure was a perfect fit. Mud, sweat and the occasional tear was shed throughout the day, which saw hundreds of participants attempt to beat not only their rivals, but also the clock.
As sponsors of Waterra’s first place positions, Gregory Packs SA chose the Gregory Duffel and Gregory Back Packs as prizes for the winners. Not surprisingly, there were many challenges in the OCR events. Waterra race director Jason Pachon commented on the quality of the Gregory prizes: “Waterra is grueling and tough, so it’s really great to see well designed and tough products like Gregory being awarded to our tough winners.”
To put the level of difficulty into perspective, only one female elite athlete finished the grueling 15km course with her DQ band intact. To finish officially, a competitor needs to complete all obstacles without failure.
Although a new brand in SA, Gregory Packs are known worldwide as leaders in the outdoor adventure and hiking product game, and this was made apparent with positive passing comments from participants who compared brands and remarked about the “quality” and “design specs” of the Gregory Duffel and back packs.
Gregory Back Packs cannot wait to be part of the next Waterra and hopes to see a few more competitors sporting Gregory packs soon!
